ABOUT DAY OF CARING
Organized by the United Way of the Midlands, the Day of Caring is an annual volunteer service event open to individuals and teams of volunteers in Douglas, Sarpy, and Pottawattamie counties. Participants help local non-profit agencies by stocking food pantries, painting, gardening, doing light repair projects or assisting clients.
Since its inception in 2001, UWM's Day of Caring has promoted the spirit and value of volunteerism, increased the awareness of local agencies and demonstrated what people working together can accomplish. Volunteers receive a first-hand look at the services provided by the non-profit organizations in our community. Nonprofits have an opportunity to share their mission and to complete various projects.
