Day of Action – June
Day of Action allows the community at large to give, advocate and volunteer around our Classroom Ready initiative. On this day we channel the volunteer spirit to help make an impact on education – through literacy and family-engagement – by staging a reading event and recruiting volunteers to read to a child (ages 6-8).
Day of Caring – AugustMore than 800 volunteers joined forces last year to complete 80 projects throughout the community. The massive event will mobilize volunteers to support Basic Needs - food, safety, housing and health – for our most vulnerable neighbors.
Holiday Helpers – November and DecemberFeel the warm glow of the holiday season by becoming a Holiday Helper! United Way matches the needs of clients in area nonprofits with the generosity of people like you. Dozens of projects are available from serving meals to hosting drives and more.
Martin Luther King Week of Service – JanuaryAcross our community, hundreds of volunteers give their time and talents in January in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year, United Way of the Midlands is facilitating the Martin Luther King, Jr. Week of Service, dedicated to organizing donation product drives, collecting items like warm clothing, personal care products and other non-food items that help those in need grow stronger.
