First, donors make a pledge - to put their dollars into programs that help people help themselves. That makes our entire community stronger. So how does United Way put those dollars to work?
United Way takes a community-wide view of local human needs and makes a strategic plan to address them. Volunteers and staff believe donors want to see lasting change, and want to make sure programs are available across our metro area.
The first step is the COMMUNITY CARE FUND - a network of human service programs that are operated in United Way funded agencies. This network serves children, adults, families, senior citizens and is carefully designed to make sure neighborhoods across the three-county area have services. The goal is to address the Basic Needs of our most vulnerable population, and to ensure local kids are Classroom Ready and young adults are Workforce Ready.
The real impact of United Way donor dollars can be seen in the Stories of Change we hear from our partners. Real clients seeing real change in their lives - that's the power of United Way.
But our community impact doesn't end there. Our Court Referral Community Service program gives volunteer opportunities to keep people out of jail by providing opportunities for them to make a difference. And the 2-1-1 Call Center works as a vital resource for those in need of a health and human service.
Take a look at everything we're doing and you'll see that United Way of the Midlands truly is Community Strong.
