United Way of the Midlands’ Housing Stability Program
The Omaha Community Foundation and other philanthropic partners have developed the COVID-19 Response Fund. As part of this effort, United Way has developed a Housing Stability Program that will be administered by the 2-1-1 Helpline. This will provide critical funding to help with rental and mortgage assistance for those who have been directly affected by the virus and/or unable to work due to closure or reduction in hours due to COVID-19. 100% of donations will go to the program.

How will the program work?
Administration of Funds
The 211 Helpline is a vital resource in the community to help answer and/or direct callers based on their needs. This resource is equipped and best positioned to deploy housing assistance.
When Families Can Access Funding
Our 211 Helpline will begin taking applications from the community on April 15th, 2020.
Beginning April 15, 2020, 211 Helpline specialists will take applications for rental or mortgage assistance. Residents must be 19 years of age or older and live in the state of Nebraska or the nine counties in southwest Iowa: Pottawattamie, Harrison, Mills, Monona, Shelby, Cass, Montgomery, Fremont and Page.
Applicants will need to provide the following information to determine eligibility:
- A lease or monthly mortgage statement;
- Most recent paystub and/or letter from employer; and
- Other supporting documentation.
Funding Amount Available for Families
Applicants can receive a one-time amount of up to $1,500 for rent or mortgage assistance. Once eligibility is verified, UWM will pay the landlord or mortgage company directly.
How My Donation Will Help
During this difficult time, you can contribute to provide relief to those impacted. 100% of funds raised will go to the program. The amount raised will determine how many people will receive assistance.
